140th Annual Labor Day Parade, Saturday, September 10th, 10:00am

With our Part-Time Faculty at The New School and NYU Adjunct Faculty in bargaining with management, the 140th Annual Labor Day Parade is an opportunity for ACTUAW Local 7902 to show our power to New York City and to management. The Student Employees and The Student Health Services Employees at The New School will begin bargaining their next contracts in 2023.

The march steps off at 10:00 AM on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 44th Street and Fifth Avenue and heads north. We will be assembling with Region 9A on East 47th Street between Fifth Avenue and Vanderbilt Avenue in Sector VI. Our expected march time is 1:00 PM so please plan on arriving at noon. The streets around the assembly area are closed to vehicles that do not have permits at 7:00 AM so please don’t plan on bringing anything heavy.

Our Grand Marshal this year is Marty Walsh, the secretary of the US Department of Labor and our parade co-chairs are AFL-CIO Secretary Treasurer Fred Redmond and Labor Commissioner Roberta Reardon from the New York State Department of Labor.

This year’s theme is Workers Leading, Workers Rising. The march is sponsored by Labor Arts and the NYC Central Labor Council. ACTUAW Local 7902 will be showing our members leading and rising.

Our local will be providing UAW wheels and a banner for our contingent and members should feel free to create their own signs that represent our struggle and the fights we are currently engaged in. Noisemakers are welcome too, but please don’t use them until we step on to Fifth Avenue. Suggestions for chants are welcome too.

If you are interested in marshaling during the parade, please contact Duncan Osborne at duncantosborne@gmail.com.

In Solidarity,
