Strike Training, Tuesday, October 25th & Thursday, October 27th, 6:00pm – 7:30pm

Join ACT-UAW staff and members for one of two strike training sessions. Your Bargaining Committee has not called a strike yet; however, with contract expiration quickly approaching at the end of the month, and the results of our strike authorization vote coming out soon, all members need to become acquainted with what collectively withholding labor from the university would look like in the event of a strike.

The first of many training sessions will be held Tuesday 10/25 followed by another on Thursday 10/27. Both will be from 6 to 7:30PM. Use this Zoom link to join: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84726940629

In these trainings, we will review what it means for you to formally withhold your labor through a legally-protected strike, your eligibility to receive strike pay, and what strike duty could entail.

We will discuss how our strike could impact bargaining the new contract, the logistical considerations of holding picket lines, and how we will ensure that our members are in high spirits and well taken care of while picketing. Lastly, we will discuss what a strike committee and picket captains are and the responsibilities these roles entail.

There will be ample time devoted to answer any questions any would-be striker might have.

We hope you’ll join us in this pivotal moment and attend a session to learn how we can leverage your collective power as adjuncts at NYU to gain higher compensation, expanded benefits, and job security through a landmark labor contract.

Yours, in solidarity,

Brian Allen
